I'm taking a stance in defense of Doctorfence.blogspot.com

It's frustrating trying to start a blog in 2013.

I get an idea, I'd like to name my personal blog The Fence in homage to the Tim Minchin song of the same name. The basic idea of the song is that it's much easier to see the difference between things that are sometimes referred to as black and white when you don't pick a side and try to stay away from binary thinking. The song really speaks to much of my views on the world that there is good and bad in all. I'm not going to go on about it but suffice to say I wanted to name this blog after the song.

Naming a blog is simple enough. Just put your title in the section where it says, "What do you want to call your blog?" I typed in The Fence. Simple. It doesn't care that there are other blogs called the Fence. No big deal.

But WHERE do I want to put The Fence? Ahh. There's the rub. I have to put the Fence at whateverisay.blogspot.com.

So I try thefence.blogspot.com. Taken. Onthefence.blogspot.com. Taken. Sittingonthefence.blogspot.com. Taken. Several variations thereupon. Taken.

And it wouldn't bother me if ANY of these blogs had been updated since 2004 or if any of them had more than a few posts. Some just one simple "Okay here's my first post. I'll do more later." Since 2004!

And I'm one of those guys who would prefer NOT to throw a number or an intentional misspelling so I can have the blog site of my choice. Because it's NOT my choice. thefence1.blogspot.com not taken. STILL not taken, in fact. dafence.blogspot.com Still available. I don't know, I know that in the future this will be the biggest plight of our children. I know that it will be a major political issue. I'm not sure which political party will side with which side, but it will be very divisive. I can sense it. There could very well be wars over the official respelling of words so that we can have new and original website and blog names instead of forcing the Postal Office of Huffington, Nevada to settle on "huffingtonpost25x."

So doctorfence.blogspot.com. I think it was because my son was watching Doctor Who and the name semi-appealed to me. It isn't ideal but I'll take it. I mean as well as strange fence sitting political rants there will certainly be plenty of Doctor Who talk. Big things coming up for the 50th and after. John Hurt as the Doctor. Matt Smith leaving. Who knows what else Steven Moffat has planned? I don't but it will likely be quite a curve ball.

I'll have some funny here too. I have a few other blogs (ahealthierwe.blogspot.com and waitjam.blogspot.com. Both first choices, by the way) but nothing really dedicated to the funny I think of so the funny is going on the Fence as well.

Personal issues. Also here. Why not. Gotta put them somewhere.
